Crock Pot Basil Beef Stew Recipe

  Neil and I both love recipes that use basil. It really adds such a nice flavor to everything.

Crock Pot Basil Beef Stew Recipe

2 1/2pds chuck roast cut into pieces
1/2 large onion sliced
5 large carrots sliced
4 stalks celery sliced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 8 oz. package of sliced mushrooms
2 tbsp. chopped fresh basil
1/2 can of beer
1 packet onion soup mix
Approximately 1 cup of water
1 beef bouillon cube (optional)
Flour for dredging

Heat oil over medium high heat on stove top, dredge beef in flour and brown.

Meanwhile combine all liquids plus onion soup mix and bouillon in crockpot.

Add vegetables and meat cook on high for 6 hours stirring occasionally.

Serve with bread.

If fresh basil is unavailable use 1 tbsp. of dried basil.
