Neil and I had an excess of plums - buckets of them. So we thought some stewed plums would be a great idea and of course what better way to do them, then in the crock pot.
We froze heaps for later in the year.
These were just delicious as dessert with ice-cream. Would also serve well with fresh cream.
Crock Pot Stewed Plums Recipe
3 pounds (1.5 kg) of Ripe Plums
1/2 cup sugar (white, normal)
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 cup water
Put the plums in the crock pot. Halve if you want - but I didn't, I like them whole.
Add the sugar, cinnamon and water.
Put on the lid of the crock pot and cook on low for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
After this cooking time they are cooked and soft but maintain their shape. If you prefer more of a 'mush' cook on high instead of low.
Just delicious served warm with vanilla ice-cream.
Freeze for later use.
