Easy Sticky Cola Crock Pot Chicken
A play on words and a great drumstick recipe makes this crock pot chicken a great meal.
Slowly parboil 1 1/2-2 lbs. of fresh or frozen chicken drumsticks (can use other parts if wish) for 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat.
Combine the following in crockpot:
the parboiled chicken including bones,
1 3/4 cups of water,
three 8-10 oz. (250-300 ml) cans of your favorite dark cola, 1/2 container of 12 oz. Catsup,
one 10-12 oz. (300-350 ml) can of stewed (not chili style)tomatoes (optional),
a couple of dashes of worcestshire sauce,
1/4 cup of honey, molasses or karo, and
dash or two of salt and pepper, or other spice to taste.
Set on low for 5 hours then turn off.
Make sure chicken meat is hot and not pink inside. Should be falling off the bone!
Serve immediately either over cooked rice or with steamed or baked vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, or corn.
Baked beans go well with it also.
Good the next day too! Can be reheated with a little water in heated frying pan. Southern USA (Alabama) quick and easy.
Get the pun - drum'sticks', and this bbq can be sticky but good!)
Thanks Janna
Love the pun!
Personally I probably would not par-boil the chicken just because I'm too lazy :-) but it certainly does sound good.
I might have to buy some coca cola and give it a try.
Happy Cooking
